New York holds a special place in our hearts

September 2020

2020 NYC: When the streets were quiet and everyone was just trying to find ways to have fun. Nick had arrived at Penn Station and Prinal told him she had something fun planned.

They stopped in front of a Revel moped.

She looked excited.
He looked… excited but hesitant.

A rentable scooter in NYC during a pandemic isn’t exactly what most people picture for a date, but she was already unlocking it, so he climbed on behind her and hoped for the best.

They rode through the Upper West Side with the wind in their faces, laughing way too loud through empty streets. She played tour guide, pointing out her favorite spots — the rocks in Central Park, Hudson Yards, and a few rooftops she loved. It was fun… until he realized her feet barely touched the ground whenever they came to a stop.

By the time they ended up by the water, the sun was starting to set. They parked the moped, sat on a bench, and talked about everything and nothing. No big plans, nothing fancy — just one of those nights that felt easy and right from the start.

Now, every time a Revel goes by, they both think about that first ride. About how one random day, one slightly chaotic idea, and one shared laugh in the middle of a strange time somehow turned into a lifetime together.

P.S. The photo above is Nick driving the moped. After the whole “feet barely touched the ground” thing, he’s never let her drive again… which is basically his way of saying, “I love you, but some things are better left in my hands.”
